When we clear out of Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria it will only be a short time before we again commit troops to a conflict without clear cut goals, a time line and a point where we look at the conflict and if nothing is being accomplished, leave. America's post Korean War history (by the way there was a clear cut objective very quickly achieved---securing the 38th Parallel---but then McArthur decided to INVADE No Korea and that is where the next 3 years of the war sat after UN forces invaded the North and were then pushed back to the 38th Parallel and finally tnherfe was an Armistace. Yes US troops remain there to this day but in smaller numbers defending the 15th largest Democratic Economy in the world where COVID was quickly controlled by good Public Health Measures. After Korea it was conflict after conflict without clear achieveable goals and an exit plan. We have got to stop thinking that we as the US have endless resources to engage in these conflicts without starving the homefront of fianncial and human resourcesand complicating our standing in the world stage.
